Afton B. Gray MARION-Afton B. Gray, 99, of Marion passed away at 10:33 AM, Friday, January 6, 2006 at Paradise Manor in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Joey Brent officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 9, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be sent co; Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, Illinois 62959. Mrs. Gray was born on August 1, 1906 in Union County, Illinois to John Willard and Viola (Jones) Bloodworth. She married William Clinton Gray on February 26, 1927. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1982. Survivors include her children, Dolores Rauch of Dupo, IL; John Willard and Sue Gray of Brighton, IL; Gerald and Phyllis Gray of St. Louis, MO, Bernice and Raymond McCormick of Marion; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Gray of Maple Valley, WA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. . She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jackie Gray; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Alene Vaughn and Eva Sellars. She was a former rural school teacher and taught in Williamson County. At the age of 90 she was still volunteering for the Literacy Program in Marion.
