Herrin- ANNA V. HINDMAN, age 87, of Herrin, passed away at 6:55am on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at her home in Herrin. Anna was born on November 14, 1923 in Reggio Calabria, Italy, the daughter of Peter and Dominica (Canale) Viterisi. Anna immigrated, with her mother, to America, in 1924, when she was six months old. Anna married Paul Hindman at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin on July 10, 1948 and shared fifty-two years of marriage until his passing on November 2, 2000. Mrs. Hindman attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Anna owned and operated the Park Avenue Motel in Herrin for fifty-years. She was a member of the Herrin Chamber of Commerce, a lifelong member of Herrin Elks, and a board member of the Williamson County Tourism Bureau. Anna and Paul were proud members of OP 17 Society of the Third Infantry Division. Survivors include her brother- Joe Viterisi of Paducah, KY Sister-in-law- Connie Viterisi of Fort Wayne, IN Nephew- Joe Viterisi, Jr. of Paducah, KY Nephew- Paul Viterisi of Bloomington, IN Nephew- John Viterisi of Cincinnati, Ohio Niece- Jane Ellen Viterisi of Paducah, KY Niece- Julia Viterisi Hannan of El Paso, Texas Niece- Diane Wessell of Fishers, IN Niece- Jeannie Marie Snodgrass of Bowling Green, KY Twelve Great Nieces and Nephews Cousin- John Romeo of California Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Paul, brother- Dominick Viterisi, and her nephew- Peter Viterisi. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 11-1pm on Saturday at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the San Carlo Cemetery Association or VNA/TIP Hospice.
