Herrin- Barbara Ann Clayton, 76, of Carbondale died at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, April 26, 2004 at her sons home in Georgia.
Barbara was born on January 22, 1928 in Herrin to Everett & Dexter (Howell) Wade. She married Kenneth Clayton on December 26, 1942 in Jackson, MO. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1996.
She was retired and worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block.
Mrs. Clayton was a member of Cottage Home Baptist Church in Carbondale and the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sierra Club, and the Wilderness Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister; Dorthella McVey, and brother in law; John McVey.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Tommy Monroe will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9:00 PM, Friday, April 30, 2004 at the funeral home.
