Betty E Safford

Marion Betty Estelle Safford, 87, of Marion, died Friday, October 22, 2004 at 5:45 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Betty was born November 24, 1916 at West Frankfort, IL to John and Ellen (Spencer) Mifflin. She married Harold Tyler on October 31, 1932 and he preceded her in death in April of 1979. She married Larry Safford at Long Beach, CA on January 7, 1967. He died on April 20, 1996. Betty was a machine operator at Fairchild Company-a division of Rexnard Corp in Costa Mesa, CA. She was a licensed practical nurse and practiced for several years. She was a former resident of Costa Mesa, Ca for 45 years. Survivors include: 3 daughters: Roma Tyler- Marion, IL Pansy Tyler- Marion, IL Karen (Tyler)& John Copeland- Marion, IL One granddaughter- Debbie Copeland-Marion, IL 2 brothers- Walter & Betty Mifflin- Boise, ID John & Veronica Mifflin- Godfrey, IL 1 sister- Mary Springhart-Russellville, AL Many nieces & nephews Preceded by: Parents, two husbands- Harold Tyler and Larry Safford, and two sisters- Ollie Ing and Madge Browning. Betty attended the 2nd Baptist Church in Marion and was a member of the Friendship Circle Class at the Church. Private Memorial Services will be held at the home at a later date. Entombment will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is handling arrangements.
