Billy Joe Richardson

BJ was a highly educated man whose life's mission was helping others. He was a mentor, leader, coach, confidant, father, husband and PePaw. He listened, challenged, and supported all who needed it. He understood people and was always compassionate and empathetic and made life and learning fun for all.

BJ was an advocate for all students.

In 1998, BJ was appointed principal at Herman E. Dummer Middle School. When a referendum passed to build a new middle school, BJ was instrumental during the building of the new school and the transition to the new school and beyond.

BJ was a lover of family, friends, life, teaching, music, food, fishing, hunting, and helping others.

He departed early from his family and friends at 68 years old. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Donna Richardson. He also leaves behind his children, Billy, Bobby, Kristin, Christina, Brandi, Jordan and his beloved dog, Sofie.

His legacy will continue on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Alexis, Aiden, Angelina, Ashton, Austin, Hunter, Blake, and Elora. He also leaves behind his siblings, Sandy, Sheri, and Mark, and his father, Bill Richardson.

His memory and friendships with his family, friends, students, teachers, coworkers, fishing buddies, hunting buddies, and cooking buddies will never be forgotten.

He waits on the other side (continuing the love of all) with his mother Wilma and his son Jon.

We will see them all again one day...

There will be a celebration of life for beloved school principal, BJ Richardson held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 4:00- 8:00 PM at the Moose Lodge located at 1002 E. Church Street, Sandwich, Illinois.
