Brenda J Barnes

Brenda J. Barnes, 63 of Benton, Illinois passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side, on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville.  Brenda was born on November 8, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Ivan and Norma Barnes.

Brenda was a 1978 graduate of Festus High School.  She spent her working career doing various types of factory work.  She had one daughter, Kayla Perr. In her younger days, she enjoyed being outdoors and riding horses bareback.  She was fascinated by exotic birds, enjoyed eating at Red Lobster and Olive Garden.  She also loved watching ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and playing on her tablet to pass the time.  Her daughter recalls her feisty manners and even a great memory of the time her mother fiercely fought a snapping turtle that was getting too close to Kayla.  She used two different kinds of shovels that didn’t ward it off so finally they decided to just go inside to get away.

She is survived by her daughter Kayla Perr (her affectionately known PITA daughter-in-law, Cassie Helms)

She was preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Norma Barnes.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Binkley-Ross Funeral Home located at 1702 West Boulevard Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.  In lieu of flowers the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations be directed to Binkley-Ross Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.

Brenda’s family would like to thank her in- home caregiver, Courtney and her home health nurse, Lisa for the dedicated care they gave to Brenda.
