Carol Jean (Gonglik) Norris, 72 years old of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away on February 5, 2021, after a courageous illness, surrounded by her loving family, who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She was born July 16, 1948, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Carol Jean was the daughter of John and Mary (Simko) Gonglik.
Carol held many professional positions throughout her life, and most recently retired from her work as a healthcare scheduling technician in the imaging department for Southern Illinois Healthcare. Carol was of the Catholic faith.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, and her brother, John Gonglik.
She is survived by her son, D.W. Norris and her daughter, Jaclyn (Husband, Andy) Prior, her granddaughters, Jana (Husband, Jan) Segatto; Haley McFarland; her grandson, Sean McFarland; her sisters, RuthAnn Rock of Meadowlands, Pennsylvania; Louise (husband, Pat) Defilippis of Avella, Pennsylvania; and her brother, David Gonglik of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; many nieces, and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Carol. She loved being an active mother when her children were growing up, and often opened her home to many of their childhood friends. Friends and laughter were always welcome at the Norris home. She was a fun grandmother and was supportive of their many interests and activities. Carol had perfected her witty sense of humor and had an uncanny ability to keep her friends rolling in laughter. She had an immense love for her family.
Carol's wishes were to be cremated with an inurnment in the family plot in Pennsylvania at a later date.
