Carolyn Sue Miskelley

July 20, 1949 — February 5, 2021

Carolyn Sue Miskelley, of Marion, IL, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born to Andrew and Maxine (Huff) Rametta, July 20, 1949 in Marion, where she has lived her whole life.

Carolyn married Howard Miskelley August 20, 1971. They shared over 49 loving years of marriage. Together, their dedication for each other and their family kept their marriage strong. They filled the home with laughter, music, reading, and love. Carolyn's love for her family influenced all aspects of her life and those around her.

Carolyn was a homemaker who placed her family before all else. She had a passion for cooking for her family who fondly remembers all of the homemade dishes she made from scratch. She loved to collect cookbooks and try out new dishes, even though she frequently found that her traditional ways were preferred by all. Her children were active in sports, band, scouts, and dance, and she was always the first parent at every performance, practice, or game sitting front and center. Always the first to volunteer to be room parent, team mom, or den leader, she had a giver's heart and was always willing to help. She instilled in her children a strong sense of right and wrong, and took her job as a mother seriously and felt it was her duty to make sure her children grew up strong and independent.

Carolyn was passionate and was not afraid to stand up for what she believed was right. She never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. She loved to garden and filled her home with plants and flowers. Her love for animals extended to all furry creatures, but her favorites were her dog Jinx, her cats, elephants, and giraffes. Many family trips were made to visit the St. Louis Zoo, and no one could leave until Carolyn had seen the elephants and giraffes. She loved all types of music and would sing and dance along.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Howard; her children Suzanne Michelich and her husband Charles, Melissa Jones, Donavan Miskelley and his wife Alexis, and Shawn Miskelley and his wife Nicole; her grandchildren Hadley Jones, Keagan Michelich, Malia Jones, EmaKade Miskelley, RaeLyn Miskelley, Aycen Miskelley, and Howard Miskelley; four sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Maxine (Huff) Rametta, and two sisters. There will be a time of visitation for friends and family on Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Marion, beginning at 10:00 am.
