Herrin- Clarence Robert Crabtree, 77, of Herrin, passed away on Friday February 18, 2005 at 4:08 pm at the Herrin Hospital. Mr Crabtree was born on November 30, 1927 in Henderson, KY to Arthur and Eythel (Hargan) Crabtree. He married Dorothy Mae Bell on March 21, 1953 in Hartford, KY. She survives in Herrin. Clarence received his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky. He was an engineer and Manager of Technical Services at Magic Chef (Maytag) Company in Herrin for 34 years. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Herrin, where he was also a member of the Joy Group. Mr Crabtree was a Veteran in the US Army and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Survivors Include- Wife- Dorothy Mae Crabtree- Herrin, IL Son and daughter-in-law- Mike and Terri Crabtree- Peachtree City, GA Daughter and son-in-law- Carol and Skip Milam- Portland, Oregon Grandson- Scott Crabtree Grandson- Brian Crabtree Granddaughter- Erin Milam He was preceded in death by his parents. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin has been entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday February 21, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with Rev. Brad Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday February 20, 2005 from 6-9pm at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at Mt Carmel Cemetery in Utica, KY at a later date. Clarence was loved dearly by his family and friends and he will be missed. Memorial donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
