McLeansboro- Clyde Dale Maulding, 74, of McLeansboro, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 4:15 AM, Friday, October 22, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Clyde was born on June 16, 1930 in Hamilton County to Earl Ambrose & Lou Ina (Thompson) Maulding. He married Euladean Austin on October 26, 1998 in Murphysboro. She preceded him in death in 2000.
He was a US Navy Veteran, having served on the USS Saipan as a storekeeper during the Korean War. He retired from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1997 after thirty-five years. He worked in the accounting department at SIU-C as well as serving as treasurer for the Foundation and accounting for scholarship money in the athletic department; he was a big SIU-C basketball fan. He was a season ticket holder for both the mens and womens team. He formerly worked as a field agent for the Internal Revenue Service.
In his spare time, Mr. Maulding volunteered his time preparing taxes and estate work for the McLeansboro Senior Citizens and various other agencies and individuals throughout the area. He also volunteered his time at the McLeansboro Library helping with genealogy. He was an avid birdwatcher. He was a kind hearted man who will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, October 25, 2004 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Bill Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in McLeansboro. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the McLeansboro American Legion Post. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Harre Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
