Creighton A. Smith

Marion Creighton A. Smith, 82, died Sunday, October 24, 2004 at 2:45 P.M. at VA Medical Center in Marion. Creighton was born December 2, 1921 in West Frankfort to George E. and Bessie (Nolan) Smith. He married Virgina Sanders on August 2, 1942 in Ontario, California and she preceded him in death on September 06, 1984. Creighton was the retired President and CEO of Seaver-Smith, Inc. in Grand Haven Michigan. He retired as a Major in the Air Force after serving 4 years. While serving in WWII, he served in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, and EAME Service Medal with 2 stars, Air Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Victory Medal WWII, Silver Star and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Fighters Pilot Hall of Fame of Illinois, Retired Officers Association, Masonic Lodge Lake Creek, A.F.A.M. Survivors include: Mother Bessie Nolan of Marion Son Creighton B. Smith and wife Linda of Marion Grandson Creighton Christopher Smith of Colorado Springs, CO Brother Leslie W. Smith of Marion Preceded by: Father, Wife Private services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Herrin American Legion and VFW Posts will perform military rites at the graveside.
