Cynthia "Cindy" (Rich) Kobler

August 26, 1953 — November 7, 2023

Marion

Cynthia Kobler, 70, of Marion, Illinois went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.  She was peaceful at home surrounded by her loving husband and daughter. Cindy was born on August 26, 1953, the daughter of James Frederick and Sylvia Jean Rich.  She married William “Bill” Kobler on October 23, 1970, at Third Baptist Church in Marion, Illinois. They recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Kendra Kay and Cory David.

Cindy was a 1971 graduate of Marion High School.  She was a homemaker.  She was proud to be the central figure in the lives of her husband and children. She cared deeply for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Cindy enjoyed crafting, cooking many meals for her family and her children’s friends.  She and Bill loved getting away for long rides on their Harley Davidson motorcycle. She was a very talented seamstress, tailoring and fitting garments for many in her community over the years. She had the gift of hospitality and loved making people feel welcome and loved.  She loved Christmas decorating and leaving a sparkle everywhere she went.  She drove endless miles with Kendra while supporting the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a youth service organization that teaches leadership through community service. Cindy was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Kobler; daughter Kendra (Jon) Wofford; son Cory Kobler all of Marion; her grandchildren William Gary Wofford of St. Louis; Gloria Kay Wofford and Kathryn Ann Wofford of Marion; Cayla Alaina Kobler and Cadence Denice Kobler of Marion; her brother Roger Rich of Carterville, along with other relatives and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Jean Schwenke; her stepfather, Maxwell Schwenke; her father, James Frederic Rich; her sister, Gloria Jean Hancock, her father and mother-in-law, Vernon and Mildred Kobler; her brother-in-law, Richard Kobler; her nephew, Allen Kobler; and her beloved Bichon Frise, “Precious.”
