Dallas L. Maze (GOREVILLE) - With great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Dallas Maze of Goreville on January 2, 2023. Dallas was born December 23, 1965, to Harold D. and Vennetta J. Maze. He was a graduate of Goreville High School.
A loving family man does not begin to describe the passion and devotion that Dallas had for his wife and family. Dallas met his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Barringer, while showing cattle at the Union County Fair. Their love sparked on the fairgrounds and the rest was history. Dallas and Rhonda were married on September 20, 1986. To their marriage came four children, Wesley, Jamie, Meagan, and Madyson. After the devastating still-birth of Wesley, three little girls came to fill their home with laughter and hugs. They quickly had their daddy wrapped around their little fingers. From the time they were young, Dallas and Rhonda had these little ladies involved in 4-H and showing cattle. Later, many family vacations were spent traveling across the U.S. showing, selling, and buying purebred Salers cattle. For Dallas, one could never have too many cattle.
Years later, the family continued to grow with the addition of son-in-laws and grandchildren. Jamie and Patrick Malone are parents to Elayne; Meagan and Caleb Cato are parents to Lotten and Laetyn; and Madyson recently married Jacob Ellis. Dallas could not talk about those grandbabies without smiling–he would often be found playing on the floor, leading them around on the ponies, or riding around checking cattle with them. He was such a proud Papa.
He loved life and brought joy to all who surrounded him; he was sincere but could find humor in any situation; his personality drew people to him and put them at ease. Dallas was a hard worker who loved the land and cattle farming. Engrained in him was a passion for Salers cattle and sorrel mules.
Dallas was preceded in death by his son, Wesley Franklin Maze; father-in-law, Curtis Barringer, and sister-in-law Crystal Maze.
