Dickie "Dick" Gill

Dickie (Dick) Gill, 86, of Marion, went to be home with his Lord and Savior at 11:50 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at home with his wife Pat by his side.

Dick was born on May 2, 1937, in Marion to James Edward and Mildred Irene (Creal) Gill.  He was a 1956 graduate of Marion High School.  Dick was retired having been employed by Verizon Telephone Company for 32 years.  Dick never quit working after retirement as he later did maintenance work for several years.  Dick enjoyed working and staying busy and being with family.

Dick was a member of Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church.  He was a born-again Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart.  His greatest love was for his family.

Dick is survived by his wife, Pat of 66 years; son Scott (Jennifer) Gill; four grandchildren, Adam (Mariah) Gill, Brandon, Luke Gill and Megan (Tyler) Neal; sister-in-law, Wilma Gill of Marion; nephew Ryan (Melissa) Gill and children of Raleigh; niece, Brittany Johnson and children of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Mildred Irene Gill; brothers, Terry Gill and James Edward “Bud” Gill.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church with Pastors Kevin McNeely and Donnie Colson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Marion.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations be directed to Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church.
