Doris Irene Fisher

Doris (Mason) Fisher, age 97, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at The Anchor in Marion, IL. Born on October 26, 1927, in Williamson County, Doris lived a long and fulfilling life dedicated to her family, faith, and community.

Doris was the beloved wife of the late John Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters, and her daughter, Barbara Fisher, and her son, Michael Fisher. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Sparks, and son, Alan Fisher. Doris was a proud grandmother to Scott (Tara) Green, Andrea (Michael) Rascher, Jennifer (Darren) Moore, Kristen (Aaron) Wellborn, Beth (Josh) Gengler, Amy Fisher, and Chase Fisher. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Cameron, Kaitlyn, Mikayla, Tyler, Aly, Madison, Jamison, and Lilly.

A graduate of Johnston City High School, Doris devoted her life to being a homemaker. She found joy in reading, gardening, crafting, sewing, and quilting, often creating beautiful handmade pieces that brought warmth and comfort to her family and friends. As a long-standing member of the Third Baptist Church in Marion, IL, her unwavering Baptist faith guided her life and interactions with others.

Doris’s generosity extends beyond her lifetime through the ultimate gift of donating her body to the SIU School of Medicine, contributing to anatomical research and the education of future medical professionals. Graveside services will be held at a later date. If you would like to honor her memory, the family suggests a memorial contribution to the American Heart Association or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, two of her favorite charities.

We will forever cherish Doris’s unwavering love and strength and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and cherished memories.
