Dorothy Gallenbach

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Veronica Gallenbach, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 6th, 2021, at The Anchor in Marion, IL. She was born on January 13, 1941 in Springfield, IL to Urban and Marguerite Kaufman, the youngest of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings. Dorothy graduated from Ursuline, an all-girls school and remained close friends her entire life with some of her school mates.

Dorothy married Bob Gallenbach on December 30, 1961. She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Jennifer) Gallenbach of Aurora, IL. Robert Todd (Teri) Gallenbach of Marion, IL. and one daughter, Cathleen (Charles) Cody of Elgin, IL. Her beloved grandchildren, Andrea & (Chase) Anderson of Herrin, IL, Rachel & (Michael) Norris of Topeka, KS, Nathan, Ethan, Rebecca, & Sarah Gallenbach,of Aurora, IL and Mike and Taylor Cody, of Elgin, IL. Three step granddaughters, Kaitlynn Morgan, of Marion, IL, Kelci Stafford, of Marshfield, Mo, Brynna Jones, of Mulkeytown, IL. Her great grandchildren, Madalyn Griffin, Brayden Knight, Brentlee & Kinley Anderson of Aurora, IL. One step great grandson, Carter Stafford,of Marshfield, MO. She also had a large extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, that was very precious to her, she spent much of her time visiting family and her many friends.

Dorothy was devoutly Catholic and regularly attended her home church Saint Rita of Cascia. She radiated a positive energy and love of life that drew people to her. Her license plate even read "Be Kind". She volunteered her time to many worthwhile causes;
Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry in Aurora, Hesed House in Aurora, eucharistic minister to the homebound at Saint Rita, and a member of Saint Rita choir for many years and Light of the World Christian Community.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, between the hours of 9 am until 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, IL. Mass will begin 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin, IL. Donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
