Edith Mae Hanks

Marion Edith Mae Franklin Hanks passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 3:30 A.M. at her residence. Edith was born September 19, 1935 to Fred and Anna Franklin in Marion. She married Gilbert Hanks on May 24, 1952 in Piggott, Arkansas and he survives in Marion. Edith was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: Husband Gilbert Hanks of Marion, Five Sons; Mickey Hanks and wife Bonnie of Johnston City, Keith Hanks and wife Jennie of Buncombe, Gilbert Hanks Jr. and wife Cynthia of Crab Orchard, Tracy Hanks and wife Paula of Marion, Lacey Hanks of Marion, Five Daughters; Debbie Kelton of Marion, Rebecca Goins and husband Daniel T. of Goreville, Nancy Cox and husband Charlie of Marion, Elizabeth Hearn and husband Roger of Marion, Mary Melissa Hanks of Marion, Twenty-three (23) Grandchildren, Several Great Grandchildren, Two (2) Sisters; Betty Terry of Goreville, Edna Purnell of Marion. Preceded by: Parents, One Grandson, One Granddaughter, Two Great Grandchildren, Two Son-in-laws and One Sister. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 03, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
