ENERGY- Edith Odessa Ward, 90, of Energy, was taken Home to be with the Lord at 5:50pm on Tuesday September 6, 2005 at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin, IL, with her family surrounding her bedside. Edith was born February 14, 1915 to Pearl (McPheron) and Robert Sellers. She married Clarence Hookum Ward in Kentucky on December 12, 1931. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1967. Mrs. Ward was a cook for the Energy Grade School for 25 years. She retired from the IGA Bakery in 1986. Edith was a forty-five year member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy, where she enjoyed cooking and surprising people with her fried pies and dumplings every Sunday. She always loved cooking for her family and friends. Edith was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all of us. Survivors include- One Son and Daughter-In-Law- Ray and Linda Ward- Thompsonville, IL One Daughter and Son-In-Law- Linda and Bob Ellery- Energy, IL Two daughter-in-law- Loretta Ward and Sue Ward- Energy, IL 11 Grandchildren 15 great grandchildren Brother- Jack Sellers- Colp, IL Brother- Kenneth Sellers-San Antonio, TX Sister- Flora Wright- Energy, IL Several nieces, nephews, and friends A Special Friend- Juanita Dann- Marion, IL Preceded in death by- Parents and husband 4 children- Barbara Dye, Clarence Bud Ward, Russell Snooks Ward, and infant son David Ward 2 grandchildren- David Dye and Kevin Ward 1 great granddaughter- Corrine Miller 3 sisters- Marie Helms, Pauline Deming, and Christine Smith 1 brother- Noble Sellers Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday September 9, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Thursday September 8, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations may be made to the Lone Oak Baptist Church Building fund. Envelopes will be available and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
