Elaine was born on December 13, 1949, in Morris, Illinois and orphaned at a young age. She met George working as a camp counselor over the summer while pursuing a degree in elementary education from Aurora College.
As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Elaine was devoted to her family. She was a cornerstone of encouragement and unwavering support in any and all adventures. That support extended to all those she encountered.
Her greatest joy was in service to others, especially working with young children, particularly when she ran an in-home daycare and preschool program for the better part of a decade. Her creative and unique perspective on education and ability to connect with children left a lasting joy for learning and love of life for many individuals.
In her later years, Elaine continued to advocate for and support youth through volunteer work at her church, teaching lessons during Sunday School and donating her time to the Marion Chapter of Kiwanis and the Ministerial Alliance for the Homeless. Elaine’s cobblers, cookies, and other baked goods were renowned and often the draw at fundraising events for various organizations……
