Georgia L. Wright passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, with family by her side.
She was born on Aug 17, 1950, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Richard Wright Sr. and Margie (White) Wright.
Georgia retired from Reaco Battery in 2016 after 25 years of dedicated service. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, feeding any animal in a 75-mile radius, attending countless baseball tournaments, soccer games, basketball games, birthday parties and anything she could for her Grandchildren.
She always had a smile on her face and a generous heart. She absolutely adored animals, of any kind. Her retirement trip was a drive to New York all by herself, just to see April the Giraffe. She was the best gift giver, and often couldn't wait to give it the very second she bought it. Always very intentional and personal.
Before Alzheimer's hindered her driving abilities, she used to go every day, rain or shine, and feed a Horse treats on South Market. It was just a random horse she passed daily and couldn't stand it was alone. That horse knew when her car was coming.
She will be remembered for her fierce independence, her contagious laugh, her beautiful eyes and the love she had for her family.
We hope our family's journey can teach everyone we have two hands, one to help ourselves and one to help others.
Special mention of her loyal companion until her last breath, Buster. 3.6 Pound Chihuahua, he never left her side and will miss her dearly.
Georgia is survived by her children, William “BJ” Bruner (Gabby) of Collinsville, IL, Bryan (Jennifer) Bruner of Marion, IL and Tricia Smothers of Marion, IL. Her grandchildren Camden Bruner, Kinsley Bruner, Carson Bruner, Peyton Wall and Macie Bruner.
Sisters Nancy (Elena) Weissman, Patricia (Dewayne) Kammeraad, brother, Richard (Diane) Wright Jr., and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-law David Smothers and Frank, Patches, Pookie, Ringo, Tai, Walter, Muscles, Manny, Titty, Missy and Tommy (oh poor Tommy, ask B.J.).
Her final wishes were loud and clear to us. Cremation, no services and to remember her with only good memories. Binkley-Ross has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. Please visit www.binkleyross.com to leave condolences online.
