Hazel Lucille Sims, 95, formerly of Marion, IL died Thursday, October 31, 2002 at her daughter?s home in Manteno.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday evening at Mitchell-Hughes funeral home in Marion. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. at Third Baptist Church in Marion with Daniel J. Huckins and James Giles officiating. Visitation at the church will be from 10:00 a.m. till time of service.
Hazel was born May 3, 1907 in Marion the daughter of Robert Edgar and Dora Clementine Beers Knight. She married Emery J. Sims on November 21, 1936. He preceded her in death May 8, 1986.
She was a homemaker and attended Manteno United Methodist Church and was a member of Third Baptist Church in Marion. She enjoyed cooking ?southern cuisine? for her family.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Wendell W. and Diane Sims of New Lenox; four daughters and sons-in-laws; Ann and Bill Klott of Elwood, Sharon and Ed Urbancik of Plainfield, Helen and Gordon Hamann of Manteno, and Delores and Ken Mundie of Hailey, Idaho; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Maurine Dempsey of Venus, Florida, Ruby Ester and William Sims of Pompano Beach, Florida, Mary Katherine and Robert Giles of Marion, Joyce L. and Robert Showers of Godfrey; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert E Knight Jr. of Elmhurst, Eugene V. and Helen Knight of Peoria, Phillip F. and Evelyn Knight of Federal Way, Washington, and Amoze (Omar) Sims of Marion; Fifteen grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
One son Lawrence R. Sims, her parents, one sister Eva E. Turner, one sister-in-law, Dorothy Knight, two brothers Everett and James Knight and one brother-in-law Urban Dempsey preceded her.
