Ida Mai Welborn
Pittsburg-Ida Welborn, 90, died 4:14 A.M., Saturday, February 7, 2004 at Fountains Nursing Home Care Facilty in Marion.
Ida was born September 28, 1913 in Red Creek, New York to Henry C. & Ida Mae (Moshier) Mead. She married Gaius Welborn in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She was retired having worked as dietician at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion. She was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WW II in the medical corp. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was a former member of AAUW, BPW and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was one of the founders of the Marion Meals on Wheels Program.
Survivors Include:
One Son: Gene Welborn of Pittsburg, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
It was Idas wish to donate her body to Southern Illinois Univeristy-Carbondale Medical School for medical research.
Memorial Services will be held 6:30 P.M., Thurday, February 12, 2004 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Chuch with Rev. Cecil Atchison officiating. Burial will be a later date at Red Creek Cemetery in Red Creek, New York.
