James Edward "Jimmie" Finn

Herrin- James Edward Jimmie Finn, 78, of Herrin, passed away at 10:35 PM, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Herrin Hospital . Jimmie was born on October 25, 1931 to Herbert Douglas & Virtus Martha (Foster) Finn. He was a music teacher for the Herrin School district for many years prior to his retirement in 1993. He was an accomplished teacher as well as jazz performer. He had a knack for woodwind instruments and a love for music. After his retirement from the school district he continued to perform in area orchestras. He was a member of Herrin First Baptist Church. Survivors include- Sister- Shirley Finn of Herrin Nephew- Kerry Robinson Nephew- Kent Robinson Great Niece- Kilani Robinson Great Niece- Kendra Robinson Great Nephew- Bryan Robinson Cousin- Mary Ann (Bergman) Helleny & husband Asa of St. Louis, MO Cousin- Barbara Lee (Stezel) Longwell & husband Bob of Cape Girardeau, MO Cousin- Beverly Ann (Holt) Carpenter of New Braunfels , TX Cousin- Helen (Bergman) Kouri of Tulsa, OK He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister- Martha Jo Robinson. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Don Grammer will officiate. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service, Wednesday at the funeral home.
