Jesse E. Moore

Herrin- JESSE EUGENE MOORE, age 69, of Herrin, passed away at 1:54pm on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Herrin Hospital. Jesse was born in Franklin, IL on September 28, 1939, the son of Jesse Oscar and Foresteen Bernice (Amon) Moore. He married Carolyn Alice Karraker in Jacksonville, IL on December 31, 1961. They shared forty-three years of marriage. She preceded him in death on October 5, 2005. Mr. Moore was a retired mathematics professor at John A. Logan College and AGAPE Christian High School in Energy. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in education from Western Illinois University in 1961 and his Master of Science Degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1965. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herrin. Survivors include his daughter- Cheryl Tubbs of Marion, IL; Son- Scott Moore of Marion, IL; Brother- George Moore of Marissa, IL; Two Grandchildren- Timothy and Kylen Tubbs of Herrin, IL; Crystal Tubbs of Marion, IL; Great Granddaughter- Maddison Kempf of Marion, IL; Great Grandson- Matthew Moore of Marion, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife- Carolyn, and his grandson- Cody Alan Tubbs. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Grammer officiating. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Herrin First Baptist Church Education Fund.
