Jo Ellen (Soper) Clarida, 64 years old of Creal Springs, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 26, 2021, surrounded by her family. Jo Ellen was born in Marion, Illinois on April 10, 1957, to James H. Soper and Wilma E. (Ford) Soper. She was a 1975 graduate of Marion High School.
Jo Ellen married William "Butch" Clarida, together they shared 40 years of marriage, had one daughter, Brandy Clarida, and built a life that they loved. Jo retired from Northside Primary Center in Herrin, Illinois in 2020, where she had worked as a teacher's aid for the kindergarten class. She enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Bailey, gardening in her vegetable garden and flower beds, watching her soap operas, going to yard sales, and trips to the river boat. Her family and her close friends were the biggest joys of her life. She loved taking care of others and would always do for others before she would do for herself.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, William "Butch" Clarida; her daughter, Brandy Clarida; her granddaughter, Bailey Roan; her sister, Kay (Chuck) Ehrhardt; nieces, nephews, cousins, along with other relatives and a host of good friends.
A celebration of Jo Ellen's life will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Binkley- Ross Funeral Home located at 1702 W. Boulevard Street, Marion, Illinois 62959. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
