MARION - Joan Barbara Acker, 88, recently of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, residing at The Voyage, Marion, Illinois, passed away at 7:03 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Joan was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on February 27, 1933, the daughter of LeRoy and Ruth (Kuntz) Fritch. She married Paul Henry Acker on July 26, 1952, in Allentown. Joan was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Allentown.

Joan is survived by her daughters: Janet Martin of Marion, Illinois and Debra (Keith) Dubs of Emmaus, Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Timothy (Caryn) Guldner of Bethel, Pennsylvania; Keaton (Traci) Dubs of Wallingford, Pennsylvania; Shane (Kelsey) Martin of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Shailer Martin of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Layla, and William Guldner; Sierra and Jolene Dubs; and Amara Martin; special friends, Linda Hohe of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania and Diane Lazorchak of Marion, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant grandson Shailer Brett Martin, sister Jean (George) Worman and brother Richard (Ruth Ann) Fritch.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Memorials may be given to Zion Local Mission Fund, 930 W.
