Joan C. (Wagner) Filkins

Joan C. Filkins, 82, passed away at home on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Joan was born on December 29, 1942, to Ervin F. and Ardis (Reason) Wagner in Watertown, WI. She married Myron Filkins on April 16, 1971, in Rochelle, IL. She enjoyed her work as a residential supervisor at Rendleman House Group home, assisting adults with developmental disabilities until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Roger and Ervin; and her sister, Shirley.

Joan is survived by her two sons, Brian (Dawnna) Filkins of DuQuoin, IL, and Scott (John Odum) Filkins of Champaign, IL; her sister Sharon (Dave) Burbach of Fond du Lac, WI; three grandchildren, Nicholas Struck, Elizabeth Filkins, and Colin Filkins; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her dear friends Lee and Diane Doughty and Rose Cowsert, all of Marion, IL.

Joan was an active member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion. Her funeral service will be held there (930 West Cherry Street) at 11:00am on Saturday, March 1, 2025, with arrangements through Binkley-Ross Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion or the American Humane Society.
