Herrin- Joel Watson McPherson, 81, of Herrin, died at his home at 2:00 AM, Tuesday, April 27, 2004.
Joel was born on April 17, 1923 in Lincoln, New Mexico to Joel Walter & Floy Edith (Talley) McPherson. He married his wife of sixty-two years Leona Martin on April 22, 1942 in Elk City, OK. She survives of Herrin.
Mr. McPherson was a US Army Veteran who served during WWII in both Germany and France. He was of Baptist faith and retired as a plumber from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he worked at the physical plant.

His parents, three brothers & three sisters preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 30, 2004 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Lee Lovett & Jesse McPherson will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. The Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts will provide military rites at the graveside. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the funeral home.
