John Robert Clark

John Robert “Bob” Clark, 80, of Marion, Illinois, passed away at his home on August 23, 2022.  Bob was born on June 7, 1942, in Alton, Illinois.  He was the son of Elmo and Lou Clark.  He attended Alton High School.  Shortly after graduation, he married the love of his life, Annette (Dixon) Clark on May 11, 1962, at the First Baptist Church of Cottage Hills.  Together they shared 50 years of marriage.  They had three children, Jeffrey Alan, Julie Anne, and James Adlai.

Bob was a parts manager for General Motors, E.N. Baker Chevrolet for over 35 years.  He enjoyed tinkering in his garage with various projects, including woodworking.  He instilled the love for “garage” projects with his children and grandchildren.  He liked to hunt ducks, geese and squirrels.  He also enjoyed pop-up camping and fishing trips.  He liked auto racing of all sorts, stock cars, drag strips and sprint cars.

He is survived by his wife, Annette; his children, Jeffrey (Gloria) Clark, Julie Clark, and James (Stacy) Clark; his six grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren and one on the way, along with other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, and his two sisters.

Binkley-Ross Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.  A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.  Continue to check the website binkleyross.com for updated information.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
