Lester Brooks Atwood

Atwood Obit*****With Flag****** Marion: Lester ?Brooks? Atwood, 82, of Marion passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 8:55 P.M. at the Marion Memorial Hospital. Brooks was born October 9, 1919 In Whiteash, Illinois to Roy and Emmer (Beck) Atwood; they both preceded him in death. He married Helen Mae Tanner on April 6, 1943 in Charleston, MO, she survives. Brooks proudly served his county in WWII and was a member of the Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church. He was retired from Atwood Auto Service (Illinois Specialty). He is survived by a son and daughter in law, Dale and Vicky Atwood of Pittsburg, IL and a daughter, Elaine Atwood of Marion, IL, two grandchildren, Jody Wright of Marion, IL, and Bill Atwood of Pittsburg, IL, and a sister, Avis Atwood of Marion, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers, Virgil, Burnell and Ned Atwood and sister, Mildred Schroder. Graveside Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at Rosehill Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Null and the Rev. Ward Miller officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M at the Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
