Louie Edward Camp, 85, of Marion, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Louie was born in Haleyville, Alabama, on December 7, 1936. He was the son of Edward and Floy (McCreless) Camp. He grew up in Alabama until around the age of 16, and then spent a few years in Chicago, Arizona, and again in Alabama until he moved to Marion, 10 years ago.
Louie was of the Christian faith. He worked as a furniture maker at the Hardin Furniture Company. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars and trucks, spending time with his grandchildren, listening to the old outlaw country music, and making unique pieces out of unusual household items.
He is survived by his son, Charlie (Kim) Camp; his granddaughter, Kenzie Camp; his two great-grandchildren, Drayson and Cora Bradley; his brother, Jack; his sisters, Linda and Lois.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a time for family and friends to visit on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at Binkley-Ross Funeral Home located at 1702 West Boulevard Street, Marion, Illinois. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 pm, with Pastor John Holst officiating.
In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Amputee Coalition.
