Marion- Louie D. Hanks, 91, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord at 12:20 AM, Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Benton Healthcare Center.
Louie was born on April 21, 1913 in Marion to Oscar & Emma (Reese) Hanks. He married Ruth McDannel on August 15, 1936 in Benton. After fifty years of marriage, she preceded him in death on September 8, 1986.
Mr. Hanks was retired from Elgin State Hospital where he was employed as an attendant. He formerly worked as a miner at area coal mines. He was a member of New Dennison Baptist Church of Marion.

His parents and wife, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Gordon Lantrip and Rev. Bill Kopas will officiate. Burial will follow at Hanks Cemetery in rural Marion. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 PM, Monday, September 20, 2004 at the funeral home.
