Michael Gregory Kelly, 62 of Marion, Illinois left this world unexpectedly – but peacefully, on Saturday 19th March 2022 - the Feast of Saint Joseph. Born in Arlington, VA on June 20th, 1959, Michael was the beloved son of Joseph M. Kelly and Catherine (Neubeck) Kelly - the 4th of their 7 children. The happiest day of Michael's life was the day that his own son Thomas was born.
Growing up in Washington, DC, Michael attended Our Lady of Victory grade school and graduated from his father's alma mater – St. John's College High School in 1979.
From a very young age, Michael had a special affinity for nature and animals, and during his lifetime rescued many an injured bird or other animal, nursing them back to health. He carried this kind and caring spirit to every job he held - his favorite of which was Operating Room Technician at the George Washington Hospital in Washington, DC a profession for which he had a natural talent and loved caring for others.
Michael is survived by his beloved son Thomas of Virginia, his parents Joseph and Catherine Kelly and his 6 siblings – Patricia Kelly, Karen Kelly Shea, Jeanne Marie Kelly Nealon, Mary Margaret Kelly, Brian Kelly, Monica Kelly Murphy, his 13 nieces and nephews, 3 grand nephews, and many in-laws, cousins, aunts & uncles who always surrounded him with unconditional love.
