Monee Lamont Nelson

Monee Lamont Nelson, formerly of Marion, Illinois passed away on July 16, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Lamont was born December 15, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was the son of Udell and Brenda (Emery) Nelson.

Lamont was a special person.  He was a good student, and he enjoyed playing basketball from 5th grade through college, receiving many awards for his skills on the court.  He was a 1992 graduate of Marion High School.  After high school he started college and played basketball at Loyola University in Chicago.  His smile and his big dimples could light up a room.  He was loved by all that knew him.  He made friends easily because he seemed to never meet a stranger. He will be missed forever.

He is survived by his mother Brenda K. Nelson; his five brothers Udell Nelson Jr. and family; Robert Leo Emery; Lance Bradley Nelson (Kinesha); Amos Moses Nelson, Alfonso Marshall Nelson (Lacie); his sister Andrea Taylor-Marshall and family; his daughter Ashleigh Killian; his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, along with many friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Udell Nelson; his brother Nathaniel; and his grandmother Ruth Emery.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Binkley-Ross Funeral Home located at 1702 West Boulevard Street in Marion.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. Memorial services will begin at 3:00 P.M., with Reverend Jim Slone officiating.
