Herrin- Theople Opal Nagel, 82, of Herrin, passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2005 at 6:40am at her residence in Herrin. She was born June 20, 1922 in Franklin County. She married Vernon Nagel on July 17, 1979 in Reno, Nevada. Vernon survives. She was retired from the Olin Corporation. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, & the Ladies of the Nuts & Bolts Shriners Unit. Also surviving: Three Sons: Bud Johnson of Zeigler David Sims of Zeigler Perry Sims of West Frankfort Daughter & Son in Law: Patricia & Jim Mueller of Johnston City, IL. Step Son & wife: Kevin & Debbie Nagle of St. Charles, MO. Step Daughter & husband: Shelley & Larry Harper of Nashville, IL. Twelve Grandchildren: James Johnson, Shawn Sims, Brian Capps, James Downard, Emily Sims, Julie Sturgill & husband Josh, Melissa Sims, Jessica Sims, Sara Sims, Evan Sims, Jimi & husband Tony Baudino & Kelly Mueller. Four Step Grandchildren: Wendy, Ashley & Laurie Nagel, & Patrick Harper Seven Great Grandchildren Sister-In-Law: Opal Kraus of Steelville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, & one son Michael Johnson Funeral services will be Saturday February 12, 2005 at 11:00 am at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, IL with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Friday February 11, 2005 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
