Carterville- Raymond L. Housewright, 75, of Carterville, died at 9:55 PM, Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Raymond was born on January 25, 1929 in Bush, IL to Joseph R. & Retha C. (Childress) Housewright. He was retired from the US Military, having served in both the Army and Air Force. He received the WWII Victory Medal. While in the military, Raymond became proficient as a radio operator. After his retirement he owned a small engine repair business.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Williamson County Shrine Club, and Herrins Prairie Lodge # 693 AF&AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Mildred Calvert, Ruth Ann Housewright, and Mary Ann Waldron.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, July 26, 2004 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. The Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts will perform military rites at graveside. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Monday at the funeral home.
