Raymond Ronald Marek

Raymond R. Marek, 80 of Johnston City, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Herrin Hospital.  Raymond was born on January 22, 1942, in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Rose (Rocco) Marek.  He attended Morton Jr. College where he earned his Associates of Arts degree.  He also served in the United States Navy as an electronics mechanic.  After his Honorable discharge from the military, he became an electrician for General Motors.

He is survived by his son, Arthur Marek, his twelve step-children, several grandchildren, his two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marilyn Marek.

Raymond was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.  He enjoyed good food and sharing time with his close friends.

Raymond’s wishes were to be cremated and inurned with his wife at the National Cemetery near Chicago, Illinois.  Binkley-Ross Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
