Rhea Tippy Corso

Herrin- Rhea Tippy Corso, 96, went to join the Lord at 7:10 AM, Friday, February 25, 2005 at her home in Herrin. Rhea was born on September 14, 1908 in Carterville to Milton & Ibbie (Bush) Russell. She married Zollie Scott Tippy on January 30, 1926 in Carterville. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1955. Later, she married Ernest Corso of Christopher in February of 1969. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1988. Mrs. Tippy Corso worked a number of years for Sangamo Electric in the Ordill area and Tuct Tape of Carbondale. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Herrin. When she was younger she enjoyed traveling throughout North America and Europe with her husband and spending time with her family. She and her brothers would spend hours playing cards during holidays and family gatherings. SURVIVORS: Daughter & son in law- Ibbie Jean (Tippy) & Thomas C. Boren- Steamboat Springs, CO Son & daughter in law- Jerry D. & Glenda Tippy- Herrin Granddaughters: Jerri Lynn Charlet- Herrin Jami L. Hampton- Carterville Six Great Grandchildren: Megan Hampton Jesse & David May Jared, Kerry & Charles Charlet Four Great Great Grandchildren: Dax May Brianna & Ashton Charlet Alysha Charlet Many nieces, nephews & great nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, grandson; Scott Tippy, great grandson; LCPL Chad Charlet (USMC), six brothers; Lloyd, Barney, Fern, Taylor, Ray & Eddie, and four sisters; Hazel, Roxie, Elsie & Beryl Russell. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. T. J. Gentry will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
