Robert Christie

Robert Russell Christie, age 84, of Creal Springs, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on March 14, 2025.

Robert was born on May 11, 1940, in Carbondale, IL to George and Margaret Christie. He married the love of his life Patricia Chason on June 4, 1960, in Chattahoochee, FL. As a result of their union, they had three children, Vivian Suzanne, Virginia Lee and Jennifer Lynn.

Robert accepted Christ at an early age and attended the First Church of God. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, followed by retirement from Shelby County Corrections in Memphis, TN.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, “Pat” Christie. Also surviving are his children: Vivian Suzanne Markus of Walker, LA, Virginia Lee Davis (Brian) of Marion, IL, and Jennifer Lynn Born (Thomas) of Lakeland, FL. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Christina (Andre) Wilson, Brad Davis, Katie Gilchrist, Matt Davis, Sarah Markus and Ben Markus, along with his 6 great grandchildren Wyatt Wilson, Jackson Wilson, Lizzie Markus, James Davis, John Davis, and Dylilah Markus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret, along with his sister and brother-in-law Martha and Don Carson.

Arrangements were entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley Ross. Services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, at First Church of God located at 1409 Broeking Road, Marion, IL. Visitation from 10am to 11am and Funeral starting at 11am with Rev. Roy Pepmiller officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Church of God.
