It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Franklin Rainey on August 21, 2024, in Marion, Illinois. Robert (Bob) Franklin Rainey was born on January 24, 1951, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran, Owner /Operator at Rainey's Trucking, auto mechanic, carpenter, caregiver, and a dear friend to many. Bob was a joy in himself to be around and loved spending time with family and helping others anytime he could. He enjoyed church, music, Nascar racing, auto mechanics and mostly he loved to TINKER and could fix anything! He also enjoyed collecting, salvaging, and scrapping. He is survived by daughter MaryAnn Enfinger (Jerry) of Panama City, Florida, son Robert Alan Rainey (Sara) of Herrin, Illinois, Gary Lee Stone (Jessica) of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Anna Marie Stone of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Brother George Albert Rainey of Crestview, Florida, Sister Linda Nellma Kaye Rainey of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, close and dear longtime friend Alan Harris as well as his furbaby Patches.

He was preceded in death by infant son Robert Charles Rainey (Panama City, Florida); parents Charles G. & Peggy A. Rainey (Mt. Vernon, Illinois), brother Charles Gail Rainey Jr; sister Peggy Darlene Rainey; nephew Jason A. Delaney; grandparents George H. and Mary A. Border (Mt. Vernon, Illinois); and loving wife Carol Daniels Rainey (Mt. Vernon, Illinois).  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., at Park Avenue Church of God located at 2019 N. Park Avenue, Herrin, Illinois. Memorial Service with military honors will begin at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Philip Rexing officiating
