Obituary for Ronald “R.D.” Starrick

Ronald Dean "R.D." Starrick, 74 years old, of Marion passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
R.D. was born on June 29, 1947, the son of Paul and Delores Starrick. He was raised in Marion by his grandparents, George and Grace Ashley. After high school he joined the United States Navy. He married Pamela Harris on August 6, 1978, together they have enjoyed 44 years of marriage.
R.D. went on to work as a contractor through the Laborer's Union Hall. He served as the recording secretary of the Local #577 for about 15 years until they merged and became Local #773. He enjoyed fishing, and camping in his RV, riding his pontoon boat on Crab Orchard Lake as a member of the Yacht Club. He also liked to work outside in his flower gardens and always kept an immaculate yard. He was a member of the Spillertown Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post 147.
R.D. was blessed with a family full of love.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela (Harris) Starrick; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Lauderdale; his daughter, Angela (Kevin) Breeden; his son, Michael (Elizabeth) Starrick; his grandchildren, Jessica (Curtis) Hall, Darren (Kim) Lauderdale, Gage and Mary Starrick, Jake and Grace Breeden; his great-grandchildren, Johnathan Hall, Kayli Lauderdale, Skyler Lauderdale, and Baby Girl Hall on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his father and mother-in-law, Lavern and Eva Harris; and his son-in-law, Jerry Lauderdale.
There will be a time of visitation for family and friends on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Binkley-Ross Funeral Home, located at 1702 W. Boulevard Street, Marion, Illinois. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Gilly officiating. Burial will follow at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Marion, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Marion VA Community Living Center, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
