Marion- Ruby Maxine Vaughn, 82, of Marion, passed away at 12:15pm on Friday February 4, 2005 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, IL. Mrs. Vaughn was born July 28, 1922 in Centralia, IL to Wilbur Ishmael and Gladys Lovell (Elliott) Guymon. She married F. Eugene Vaughn on May 27, 1950 in Salem, IL. He survives. Ruby was a retired school teacher, where she taught fourth grade for 27 years at schools including Spring Moore in Carbondale, a small country school in Salem, and South Side in Herrin. She was a charter member of the Parrish Park Baptist Church in Marion as well as a member of the Cancer Support Group at Herrin Hospital and Hearts Helping Harts in Marion. Survivors include- Husband- F. Eugene Vaughn-Marion, IL 1 Son- Ron E. (and his wife Jane) Vaughn- Marion, IL 1 Daughter- JoEllen (and her husband Jim) Anderson- Caseyville, IL 5 Grandchildren- Amanda and Blake Allen Vaughn Matt, Pat, and Josh Anderson 4 sisters- Freda Brock- Fairfield, IL Iris Sawyer- Miami, OK Wanita Kendrick- Virginia Beach, VA Jo Nell Cannon- Mt Vernon, IL Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion has been entrusted with arrangements. Graveside services will be at noon on Monday February 7, 2005 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Carl Barnfield and the Rev. Shaw DeMent co-officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9pm on Sunday February 6, 2005 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Monday February 7, 2005 at Parrish Park Baptist Church in Marion. Memorial donations may be made to the Illinois WMU Scholarship Fund.
