OBITUARY
Ruth Elaine Malone
Ruth Elaine (Deaton) Malone, 92 years old of Marion, IL. passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 10, 1929, the daughter of Lloyd and Jewell (Sprague) Deaton.
Ruth married James A. "Pat" Malone on April 30, 1948. Together the enjoyed 50 years of marriage, until his passing in 1998. From that union, they had three children, Stephen P. (Joletta) Malone, of St. Louis, MO., Michael Malone, of Marion, and Jamie (Jerry) Keller, of Marion. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Josh (Miranda) Malone, and Patrick (Jamie) Malone; her great-grandchildren, Preston Myers, Trigg Malone and Elayne Malone.
Ruth accepted Christ in her heart at the young age of 10 and is noted as being the longest, continuous member of First Baptist Church in Marion, serving as a member for 82 years. She worked as a librarian for Washington Elementary School for 25 years. She enjoyed planting flower gardens, fishing, and was known for her delicious fried potatoes. She and her husband enjoyed traveling both in the U.S and Abroad. Her biggest pride and joy were her grandsons, Josh and Patrick.
A time of public visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 15, 2021, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Binkley- Ross Funeral Home located at 1702 W. Boulevard Street, Marion, IL. Private Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Bob Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Baptist Children's Home located at 949 County Road 1300 N, Carmi, IL 62821
