Shawn Eric Shelton

Shawn Eric Shelton died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 13, 2023, in Johnston City, IL at the age of 44.

Shawn was born on February 15, 1979, in Marion, IL, to Cecil Shelton and Brenda Grant. He graduated from Marion High School in 1997. Shawn then went on to work at Villa House, which later became Bliss Haven, as a Direct Support Professional for 26 years.

Shawn was proud of many things, but his proudest moments were when his 3 children Sierrah, Dawson, and Hailey were born. He was a driven and intelligent professional with an immense love for technology; he could fix just about anything. Shawn could repair and restore various devices; he would often take parts from various computers & phones and put them together to make them new again.

Shawn is survived by his Life Partner, April Wyant and her son Curtis Wyant, his children Sierrah Shelton, Dawson Eric Shelton, and Hailey Shelton.  As well as his mother, Brenda Grant, his step-father, Robert “Bob” Meyer; his sister Sheena Marie Shelton, step-sisters Christina Meyer and Jenny Meyer-Hanks, and nephews Clayton Hamberg and Kenneth Jones; As well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Shelton, his grandmother, Opal Smith, and his grandparents Cecilia and Stan Meyer.

A visitation will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 1501 Broeking Rd, Marion, IL, 62959 on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.  Funeral service will follow at 1:30pm, with Pastor Kim Lee-Brown officiating.
