Stephanie L. Griffin, 56, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Monday, August 12, 2024, at her home in Marion. Her loss will affect so many of her dear friends, family and co-workers.
A new year's baby, Stephanie was born January 1, 1968 in Marion, the daughter of William E. and Jeanette L. (Riley) Griffin. Both preceded her in death.
After graduating from Marion High School, Stephanie attended SIU in Carbondale, receiving her degree in Social Work. She then began a 20+-year career of helping others as a social worker for Shawnee Alliance for Seniors for 11 years, and SIH for 11 years. Stephanie had a warm heart and a servant focus, leaving her heart and soul in her work and always putting others first. Stephanie left the field of social work in 2015 and worked for Watermark Auto Group for the past 9 years.
Stephanie was a faithful Christian, and a life-long member of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Marion. She loved her church family.
Stephanie is survived by her loving brother, David Griffin, and dear nephews, Jacob Griffin and Joshua Griffin, whom she adored. Though her family was small, she leaves behind so many dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Stephanie was the most devoted, loving sister and aunt. She cherished the time she spent following the activities of her nephews, especially attending their baseball games and college events. Stephanie was also an avid animal-lover, rescuing cats and dogs alike-always with the most caring heart. Stephanie's kind and caring soul will be missed by so many. She has gone to her Lord, taking a piece of so many hearts with her.
