Tedd Lawrence Petrus, 61 of Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.
Tedd was born on February 13, 1960, the son of Larry and Sharon (Koch) Petrus. He was a graduate of Hinsdale South. During his high school years Tedd played basketball and notably, even played against Isiah Thomas. He was also a goalie for the Hinsdale South soccer team, where he won many accolades. He later went on to finish the PHI program at Northern Illinois University. While at NIU he met his wife, Marva (Henderson) Petrus. They met in June of 1979. It was love at first sight. In a little over a year, they got married on August 23, 1980. From this union, they had three beautiful children, Rachel, Kevin, and Daniel. Together they recently celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Tedd's first job was in the mail room at Argo Corn Products. He also worked as a pressman and worked at Ace Hardware, and Madden Communications. His last job was at Walgreens in their warehouse as a communications clerk until he was unable to work due to his ALS diagnosis. Tedd loved playing soccer and softball when he was younger. He recently enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, watching the Chicago Cubs, as well as the Chicago Bears. Tedd is a firm believer in Christ and was very strong in his faith. Tedd was a member of Cornerstone Deaf Church. His dog, Prissie helped provide comfort after his diagnosis.
Tedd was loved by so many for his sweet nature, his kindness, and his sense of humor. In lieu of customary remembrances the family respectively requests with gratitude, that memorial donations be made to Cornerstone Deaf Church 196 South Moreland Road, Bethalto, IL 62010.
Tedd is survived by his wife, Marva Petrus; his children, Rachel (George) Kriss, of Fairview Heights, IL; Kevin (Alex) Petrus, of New Baden, IL; and Daniel (Brittany) Petrus, of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren, Lillian and Adelyn Kriss; Rose and Charles Petrus; Maverick Petrus, Jacob, and Victoria; his parents, Larry and Sharon Petrus; his sister, Laurie; his brother, John; and his mother-in-law, Melba (Rice) Henderson.
The immediate family will gather at Binkley- Ross Funeral Home located at 1702 West Boulevard Street on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 1:00 Pm to spend private time with Tedd. A public memorial service will be held at a later day. Please check back on the website for updates.
