Herrin- Rev. Everett Lee Weiss (Ret. Lt. Col. USAF), 72, of Herrin, died at 7:00 AM, Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Nursing Center in Marion. Everett was born on February 23, 1932 in Herrin to Gilbert L. Weiss & Phyllis Olive (Sutton) Hood. He married Wilma Faye Diuguid on January 8, 1951 in Forrestville, Maryland. She survives of Herrin. Rev. Weiss retired as a Lt. Col. and chaplain of the United States Air Force in 1986 after having served for thirty-seven years. He later served as a Methodist minister until his final retirement in 1994. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Herrin. SURVIVORS: Wife- Wilma Weiss- Herrin Son & dtr in law- Michael & Sandi Weiss- Bowling Green, KY Son & dtr in law- Greg & Darlene Weiss- Oakland, TN Dtr & son in law- Gina & Pat Denman- Herrin Six Grandchildren: Stacy & husband Cary Adcock- Hawaii John & Laura Weiss- Blytheville, Arkansas Robert & wife Stephanie Weiss- Shreveport, LA Kevin & wife Toni Kirby- Millington, TN SPC Heather Denman- Ft. Campbell- KY SPC Byron Denman- Ft. Leonardwood, MO Nine Great Grandchildren Sister & brother in law- Phyllis & Leon Lowery- Edgewater, FL Nephew- Steve & wife Janie Lowery- Phoenix, AZ His parents preceded him in death. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 4, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Herrin. Pastor Lee Lovett will officiate. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the USAF honor guard from Scott AFB. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 PM, Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to First United Methodist Church in Herrin or the Alzheimers Association and will be accepted at both the church and funeral home.
