Virginia "Ginger" Louise (Cline) Melton

Virginia “Ginger” Louise Melton, 58, of Herrin, Illinois passed away on July 13, 2024. She was born in Peoria, Illinois on June 28, 1966, the daughter of Virginia Sue Nichols and Jackie Lee Cline.

Ginger was employed as a physical therapist assistant and rotated her workday at local nursing homes around Southern Illinois. She retired in early 2000. She enjoyed exercising at Planet Fitness, going to farmer’s markets and yard sales and biking around her neighborhood.   She had recently rededicated her life to Christ and regularly attended church in Johnston City.

She was a wonderful mother to her sons Adam (Dani) McCowen and Patrick McCowen; a grandmother to Gavin, Gaige, and Paisley McCowen; and a sister to Jamie Burwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Anthony Melton.

Her sons will celebrate the life of their mother together privately.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to The American Lung Association.
