Wanda Lee Mccutcheon Ross

Wanda Lee McCutcheon Ross, 93 of Rainelle, West Virginia passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Wanda was born in Leivasy, West Virginia on August 18, 1927 to Holly and Harriett McCutcheon.

She was a loving homemaker, where she always put her husband and children before herself.

She also sold Avon and was named one of the top representatives in her district and she worked part time for Dr. Hoblitzell.

Wanda graduated from Ruppert High School. She married Albert Ross on September 20, 1950 and they shared 48 years of marriage until his death on September 5, 1998. Together they raised three children, one daughter and two sons.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was a faithful reader of her Bible and often shared the Bible stories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She enjoyed camping on New River, crocheting, watching wildlife, traveling, playing with her great grandchildren, whom all called her Nanny.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Holly McCutcheon Jr.; and her sister, Louise Curd.

Surviving are her children, Ellen Patterson; David Ross; and Darrell (Joni) Ross; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Amy) Patterson, Jessica (Ronnie) Bryant, Sara (Joe McCurdy) McAllister, Jason (Liz Garnati) Ross, and Jace Slone; her nine great grandchildren; and her sister, Loretta Jones.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM at Smathers Funeral Chapel in Rainelle, with Allen Donaldson officiating. Entombment will follow at End of the Trail in Clintonville, West Virginia.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Sunday Road Baptist Church. Please mail the contribution to the funeral home at 1109 Main Street, Rainelle, West Virginia 25962.
