Herrin- William J. (Dub) Satterfield, 82, of Herrin, died at 11:25 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2002 at his home. William was born on October 26, 1919 in Herrin to William H. & Roxie (Hardcastle) Satterfield. He married Ellade Kirk on November 2, 1941 in Herrin. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1995. Dub first worked as a coal miner out of Seymour Coal Company. He then retired as a supervisor at Allen Industries in Herrin. He was a member and deacon of Herrin First Baptist Church. SURVIVORS: Daughter- Judith Ann Mulligan- Carterville Daughter- Debbie Lynn LeBeau- Pinckneyville Grandchildren: Marie (Pulling) & husband Elmer Burgess, Jr.- Dowell Kimberly (Pulling) Ditto- Carbondale Great Grandchildren: Ardie William Burgess- Dowell Victoria Lynn Burgess- Dowell Jason Alexander Ditto- Herrin Brother in law- Paul Meredith Kirk- Columbus, IN Sister in law- Almeda (Kirk) Sanders- Herrin Sister in law- Irene Childers- Marion Several nieces & nephews His parents, wife, three brothers, and five sisters preceded him in death. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home. Revs. Maurice Swinford & Paul Tirey will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2002 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Herrin First Baptist Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
